A Little Bit of Everything

A Little Bit of Everything

We experienced some nice weather in Ocean City today and because of it some really good fishing.  The wind laid out nicely for today and there was no precipitation so there were a lot of boats out on the ocean and bay and lots of anglers out taking advantage of the ever improving fishing.  The really warm water that was in the Norfolk canyon has mixed and cooled a little so the temperature break is not as drastic so some of the fleet decided to stay a little closer to home and do some shark fishing.  Others decided to head to the deep and were rewarded with tuna, but the first white marlin and up to $15,000 is probably safe through the weekend.

Captain Luke Blume of the charter boat C Boys was one of the boats  that decided to stay close to shore and do some shark fishing  and was rewarded with  A nice thresher shark from the Parking Lot.  Paul Crampton III reeled in the 229 pound thresher and was joined by mate Jon Henry, Anthony Henry, Melissa Hephner, and Wes Stein.

Captain Joe Drosey and the charter boat Rhonda’s Osprey are back in town after their winter in Florida. Captain Joe put his crew on a 90 pound mako today.

The Jade II  had a good day of shark fishing today releasing 22 sharks and boating a mako.

The fishing in the back bays was good today as the wind laid out and the water was nice and clean. Captain John Prather of the inshore charter boat Ocean City Guide Service had a good day with rockfish in the inlet and also caught a nice 21″, 3.6 pound flounder in the south bay.

Captain Jason Mumford of the inshore charter boat Lucky Break was also flounder fishing in the south bay where he had plenty of luck. Captain Jason put his crew on nine flounder, but only one of them met the 17″ limit.

Bowfisherman extraordinaire Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing had one trip today and it was super productive.  Clean water conditions made for good shooting as his clients shot several cow noses and southern stingrays.

The ocean going party boat fleet has been having great luck with sea bass recently.  There are plenty of fish to be caught and lots of them are over the 12 1/2″ minimum size.  The Ocean Princess has had some good days recently putting clients on lots of sea bass and filling some coolers.

Today was the first… And last day of The 8th Annual Ocean City Marlin Club Memorial Day Tournament with all 13 registered boats fishing their one of two days.  The offshore wind forecast for tomorrow is not good so everyone chose to fish their day today. Here’s how the leaderboard looks, I’ll let you know how the money shakes out tomorrow.

My uncle Tim Spesick had a good day off while fishing over on the Chesapeake Bay.  Uncle Timmy caught rockfish of 21″, 23″, 27″ and 29″ and the boat totaled 38 rockfish caught and 8 keepers.
