Back to It

Back to It

We had overcast skies and a few light, lingering showers this morning, but by this afternoon it had cleared up nicely and the sun was shining.  The winds were light too so that meant that the inshore and offshore fleets were out in full force for a beautiful Sunday of fishing.  The flounder bite in the bay and on the inshore wrecks was pretty good today, and some of the offshore fleet had some luck on the trolling front so it made for some bent rods and some smiling faces.

Now that the 44th Annual White Marlin Open is in the books and we have a few days before the ladies take the stage again with the Poor Girl’s Open the offshore charter fleet is back to charter fishing for a couple of days.  Captain Luke Blume of the C Boys had a good day of trolling the Baltimore Canyon today with Joe Nibali and his crew.  Captain Luke and mate Jon Henry put Joe and crew on a couple of nice tunas and 9 mahi.

Bottom fishing in the ocean was good today for Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler.  Captain Chris put his anglers on some nice fishing for flounder and sea bass on today’s trip.

Tanner Warner from York, PA who used a shiner and squid combo in Sinepuxent Bay to catch these two keepers on the Tortuga’s Noon departure trip.  The larger fish was  2 lb 4oz and 18″ and was netted to it’s demise by mate Serg Garder.

Michael Chan had a lucky weekend of flounder fishing when he caught 3 flounder of  18″, 19 1/2″ and 20 1/2″ while drifting minnows in the east channel and off the docks of 22nd street.

My high school buddy Steve Tapley sent me this photo of Brian Rice who caught this 21″ keeper flounder just off of Martha’s Landing.  The crew was fishing in Adrian Tapley’s brand new 29″ Century that he bought from George and his staff at Racetrack Marine.

The Fish in OC bowfishing boats were out on the bay today and showing customers some really good shooting.  Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing reported some tougher than usual conditions this morning, but he was still able to get it done.

Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service who also offers bowfishing trips had some good luck putting his shooters on some big cow nosed and southern rays today as well.
