First Bluefin Tuna of the Season!

First Bluefin Tuna of the Season!

The first bluefin tuna of the season were caught this weekend out of Ocean City!

Captain Austin Ensor, with crew Josh Ensor and Bob Ewers, ventured out to the Wilmington canyon on board the Materix II and caught the first bluefin tuna of the season out of Ocean City.

Austin and crew were trolling ballyhoo in 600 fathoms of the Wilmington canyon where they found 68 degree water and went 6 for 6 on bluefins and boxed this fish that went 32″ and 22 pounds.

This is a great sign for anglers wanting to head offshore to this warmer water in the Wilmington and Spencer canyons.  I would bet that if there are bluefins in 68 degrees the yellowfins aren’t too far behind.

Check out our charter boats in Heading Offshore if  you’d like to get in on the action….and if you’re going to try it on your own…make sure you check out the regulations in Rules and Regs under Resources here at www.fishinoc.com

Congratulations to Austin, Josh and Bob on their terrific catch!!
