The Kid’s First Blue Marlin

The Kid’s First Blue Marlin

It was a beautiful day in Ocean City today and a beautiful day on the bay and in the ocean.  Sunny skies and light winds made for flat calm seas and it looks like we’re going to enjoy the same conditions for the next couple of days.  Fishing offshore wasn’t the best today with a pretty nonexistent chunking bite, but there were some bright spots.  Inshore flounder fishing was pretty good both in the bay and in the ocean on structure.

David and Michael Burt of Pumpin’ Hard had a good day of offshore fishing today because they had kids on board, and it quickly became a great day of offshore fishing when they put 10 year old Alden Pugh on his very first blue marlin.  The crew also added a white marlin release and a fat yellowfin tuna to the tally for an exceptional day in the canyon.

The Angler with Captain Chris Mizurak had some good luck fishing ocean structure today with some really nice flounder and some big sea bass coming over the rail.

Flounder fishing in the bay was pretty good this morning on the high tide.  The water was clean enough for anglers to have an honest shot at putting some meat in the box and Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters took full advantage and put his anglers on two nice keepers and another 25 throwbacks while fishing the south bay on the outgoing tide.

Savannah McCabe caught this 17 1/2″ flounder with Captain Brad McCabe of Bay Time Charters.  The fish was caught in the center channel and was the lone keeper of 30 total fish.

These anglers had some luck putting a couple of keepers in the box on this morning’s trip aboard the Tortuga with Captain Drew Zerbe.

A keeper flounder also came over the railing of the Oceanic Pier in downtown Ocean City this morning when 16 year old Derek from Pennsylvania caught this fish on a live minnow.

Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss Fishing had the Greenwell family out in the Bad Influence for some inshore sharking fun today.  Connor Greenwell was joined by his mom and dad and his sister Carley and was quoted as saying, “this is the best day of my life!”

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing had better conditions today then he has the past few days and he took full advantage of it.  Captain Marc put these shooters on some insane action for cow nosed and southern rays.
