No Boat? No Problem!
The Oceanic Pier is a great location for fishing
that has everything you need to catch fish.

entice flounder by casting out past the rocks and
letting the current slowly push your rig across the
bottom or trick tautog and sheepshead by fish-
ing top and bottom rigs or tog jigs into the rocks
just below your feet. If you’re just trying to put
something on the end of the line or keep some
kids busy you can use small hook rigs and bend
a rod on spot, croaker and small sea bass. The
second to fourth street bulkhead is one of only
two free fishing spots in Ocean City where you do
not need a fishing license. No license required.
What and How: Striped bass, bluefish, trout -
cast Roy Rigs, Thing a Ma Jigs, lures. Flounder
- Deadly Double rig, Double Trouble rig, Squidly
rig with Gulp, Otter Tails, live minnows, shiners.
Tautog, sheepshead - Double Header rig, Tog/
Bottom jigs with sand fleas, crab. Spot, croaker,
sea bass - Hi-Lo rigs with Fishbites, bloodworm.
OCEANIC PIER
Located in downtown Ocean City on the corner
of the bay and Ocean City inlet, the Oceanic Pier
is a fantastic place to fish from shore in Ocean
City. The Oceanic Pier is a privately owned pier
so there is a reasonable fee to fish, but there is
no fishing license required so it is well worth it.
The same fish that can be caught at the Route 50
bridge can be caught at the Oceanic Pier at very
similar times during the year. They have a small
bait and tackle shop with all the gear you need
along with drinks, snacks and a bathroom. Hours
vary during the offseason, but in season the pier
is open 24 hours. What and How: Striped bass,

OCEAN CITY FISHING PIER
The Ocean City fishing pier at the end of the Jolly
Roger Pier just off the boardwalk is a great spot
