It was back to the unseasonably warm temperatures today and I didn’t see anyone complaining about it. There was also little or no wind so boats were able to get out the inlet while others were in the bay, and there were several anglers fishing the Oceanic Pier, the route 50 bridge and the bulkheads behind Ocean City. It was another good day to wet a line.
My buddy John Wittmyer of Crabs to Go was out on the rip today with some of his buddies including Darryl Greer, John Nimic and Steve Hudson. The crew caught a limit of sea bass, a “mess” of bluefish and two nice triggerfish while bottom fishing with squid. John caught himself a nice 3.5 pound sea bass that brought him a Benjamin ($100).
Big Bird Cropper of the Ocean City Maryland Fishing Community has been out fishing the route 50 bridge and the south jetty with his world famous Roy Rig and having much success. The man with the red rod joined Bird on his last trip where they caught rockfish two at a time sometimes and puppy drum.
