It was a tough day for the offshore fleet today. There were some white marlin releases and some mahi caught in the canyons, but the chunkers at Massey’s Canyon had a tough go of it. The guys on the Primary Search had it so tough that they left Massey’s at about 11:30 this morning to head out to the canyons in search of a blue marlin or some other pelagic species. Of the boats that stuck it out at Massey’s most caught nothing and all of the other boats caught two or three yellowfins, except one…..
Captain Luke Blume and mate Jon Henry on the charter boat C Boys out of Sunset Marina had a “fortunate” day today. Up until 1:00 PM all the C Boys had gotten boat side was a big ray that was released….but after 1:00 PM they were fortunate enough to find a school of yellowfin around the surface and put 12 3/4 of them in the box in about 40 minutes…one fishes tail was lunch for a hungry shark.
Austin Ensor and his crew on the Primary Search started their day at Massey’s Canyon, but left at around 11:30 AM because of slow fishing. The crew was able to put two nice yellowfin in the box before they left Massey’s and added some mahi after bailing them in the canyons. Will Stafford caught his first ever tuna on the trip and Primary Search’s anchor enticed a bite from a hermit crab.
Captain Chris Mizurak on the party boat Angler had some decent sea bass fishing today. Here are a couple of shots of happy customers.
Fish in OC inshore charter boat Ocean City Guide Service with Captain John Prather had two good trips today. Captain John put one party on three nice keeper flounder from the back bay and another party on a load of spanish mackerel after trolling the bass grounds.
Captain Jeff Coats on another Fish in OC charter Pitboss Fishing had some great family fun in the back bays today. Captain Jeff had his crew on the Bad Influence catching some throwback flounder and a bunch of croakers. The croaker bite was at the rout 90 bridge on cut squid.
