It was another beautiful September day today. On land the motorcycles are zooming up and down the street and filling parking lots at places like Harborside, but offshore it was nice and quiet. The weather was nice too. There was a ground swell pushing out of the south thanks to hurricane Jose (who has steered to the west a little by the way), but otherwise the winds were light and it was very nice. Fishing was a little slow offshore compared to the last few days, but there were some nice mahi caught, a few wahoo and a couple of white marlin releases.
Captain Joe Drosey of Rhonda’s Osprey had a decent day out in the deep. Captain Joe and mate James put their crew on some gaffer sized mahi and a white marlin release.
Ocean bottom fishing continues to produce sea bass, triggerfish and flounder, but I haven’t seen any as big as the doormat that came off of the Ocean Princess with Captain Victor Bunting. Steve Cooper from Bethlehem, PA was on the Ocean Princess today and caught this HUGE 29″, 9 pound flounder over ocean structure.
4 year old Eli Shoemaker pictured with his father Keith caught this 17 1/2″ keeper flounder in the Sinepuxent Bay on a shiner and squid combo with Captain Drew Zerbe on the Tortuga today. The flattie was netted by mate Serge Garder.
