31st Annual Tuna Tournament Tops 100 Boats and $850,000

The numbers for the 31st Annual Ocean City Tuna Tournament just landed and it looks like it is going to be an awesome event!  104 boats are signed up this year and they are vying for their share of over $857,000!!  There are some tuna being caught too so this could be a very competitive event where someone is bound to win a ton of cash.  Good luck to all of you that are fishing the event!

The Restless Lady returned early this afternoon from a very productive overnighter where they put a ton of fish in the box.  The crew of RL put 17 nice yellowfin in the boat and the first wahoo that I’ve seen so far this year.

Captain Corey Kennington of Boss Hogg reported in tonight that Boss Hogg had a good day out in the canyon.  The crew of Boss Hogg had a white marlin release and 8 yellowfin tuna.

Rhonda’s Osprey with Captain Joe Drosey had a good day in the canyon today putting seven healthy yellowfin in the box.

The All In out of Bahia Marina with Captain Scott Stapleford found some yellowfin tuna and a couple of mahi in their secret spot today.

Yesterday Captain Steve Moore of the Stalker had a good day of trolling when he put his crew on 8 nice yellowfin tuna.

I heard that catching was a little tougher on the ocean party boats thanks to a strong current, but it was not without reward.  Declan, Fiona, Megan and Sean Murphy plus Courtney Green, Richard Gunion and Dave Konick ended up enjoying their time and putting some dinner in the cooler.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported the same for his bottom fishing today, but Angler did have some sea bass come over the rail and a nice mahi.

Chasin’ Tides Charters with Captain Chase Eberle is on the water right now hooked up to a sand tiger shark and he’s already caught and released a sand bar shark on the trip as well.  This morning an inshore trolling trip resulted in six spanish mackerel, a few green bonita and 16 bluefish.

Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service found some clean water today behind Assateague Island and put his anglers on three nice keeper flounder on Gulp baits.

Bear down at the Oceanic Pier sent me this photo of Brett from Denton who caught a houndfish on a sand flea from the bulkhead at the north jetty.

Tim and Jill Foote of Harrisburg, PA had a blast catching a nice sandbar shark on the surf at 119th street on a sqiud last night.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing had another good day in the bay putting his shooters on some good action for cow nosed and southern rays.

Things are going well for Blume’s Balloon Roundup spearheaded by Joshua and Emily Blume.  The kids set a goal of 1,000 balloons out of the ocean by September 30 and they are already at 382 after just two weeks.  Great job to all that are participating.
