I just got back from the awards banquet at the Ocean City Marlin Club for our 2nd Annual Ocean City Inshore Classic put on by Fish in OC and Hooked on OC and I have to say it was an awesome event. We had 30 boats and 95 anglers, of which 9 were junior anglers, and we paid out over $9,200 in prize money. Everyone said they had an awesome time and I can speak for myself, my wife Kristen and Dave Messick and say we had an awesome time too! We couldn’t have done it without our terrific sponsors TC Backer Construction, Bull on the Beach, East Coast Construction, Crabs to Go, Bare Bottoms Boat Detailing, JPR Rods, Bill Blade, Red Sun Custom, Steel N Glory, Atlantic Tackle and the Ocean City Marlin Club. Big thanks go out to our official weigh master Dean Lo of the Angler for another great job this weekend. We handed out some pretty big checks tonight for a little inshore fishing tournament….here are the winners.

Away from the tournament there was some good inshore fishing done by Fish in OC charter partner On the Run with Captain Dave Caffrey. Captain Dave put his crew on some fish that would have done some damage in the Inshore Classic with flounder up to 5 pounds and sheepshead up to 13 pounds.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had some excellent fall fishing out on the rip today. Captain Monty reported that they had a bunch of sea bass limits today and that it was a nice bite in flat calm seas. Jack Derfler of Royersford, PA even managed a limit of fluke. Kenny Chrismond Of Glen Burnie, MD took the pool with a 19.25″ sea bass. Jack likely would have won with his 19 inch fluke, but Morning Star is running a ‘sea bass only’ pool now. Also Pictured are Michelle Mack of Seaford, DE – Ryan Lignelli from Mt. Airy, MD – Joe Lignelli of Queenstown, MD & Mitch Palmer of Wake Forest, NC.

It may have taken trying all season on the new boat, but Jessica Kolstic finally got the keeper flounder she’s been looking for. Jessica found the 17″ fish north of the route 50 bridge.

The offshore bite for mahi was really good again today and the Boss Hogg out of Sunset Marina added some tasty bottom dwellers as well. Captain Brian Porter and mates Marshal and Corey put their crew on a limit of mahi, a limit of tilefish and a limit of sea bass on the Hogg today!

Tom Clark found this nice keeper flounder while fishing downtown on the Oceanic Pier this week.
