It was an exciting day at the 42nd Annual White Marlin Open scales on Wednesday. Harbor Island was packed as everyone waited to see what the 280+ boats that fished would bring back to the scales. There were some leaderboard changes and an awesome white marlin by a lady angler. Here’s how Wednesday went down.
There was a new 3rd place tuna caught on board the Pez Machine that weighed in at 155 pounds.
There was a beautiful 42 pound mahi that took over 1st place in the dolphin category caught on the Tra Sea Ann.
A 2nd place wahoo was weighed that was caught by angler Jason Connellee on the Sweet Water that weighed 43 1/2 pounds.
The big story of the day was the white marlin that was weighed in by the Backlash and female angler Cheryl McLeskey. The big white weighed in at a whopping 94 pounds and is the third largest white marlin ever weighed in the history of the White Marlin Open. The Backlash’s fish is currently worth $1.2 Million. What an awesome catch!
Inshore Captain Monty Hawkins on the party boat Morning Star had a good day reporting there has been some decent flounder fishing. Here Paul Bontempo of Parkville, MD shows off part of his limit.
