It was a pretty fall day today in Ocean City and the next couple of days look to be pretty as well…..and then it turns to crap for the weekend. The forecast right now is for rain, wind that may gust to over 50 mph on the coast and what could be severe coastal flooding. If you haven’t taken your boat out already and you’re in a spot susceptible to the elements, you’re definitely going to want to keep an eye on the forecast and maybe put it on the trailer. I know I’ll be on the lookout.
My buddy Captain Jeff Coats of Fish in OC inshore charter Pitboss Fishing made his way to Prince Edward Island Canada with his lovely wife Karen to do some goose hunting for Migration Nation and while he was there he got to do a little bluefin tuna fishing. Now that I think about it, “little bluefin fishing” may not have been the best choice of words because Jeff caught a BIG one. Jeff fished with Captain Cor Keus, son Captain Bruce Keus, Geoff Wood and Karen out of North Lake, Prince Edward Island Canada and landed a beautiful 96″ bluefin that weighed 551 pounds! He got some great pictures, but will be even more excited to see the video when it is aired for Migration Nation TV.
I got to have a pretty cool afternoon myself today as I was able to check another species off my list of fish that I’ve caught in Ocean City. I’ve been after the elusive sheepshead for a few years now, but haven’t been able to land one on several trips. That all changed this afternoon as I fished with Tommy Fowler of North Bay Marina and landed not just my first sheepshead, but also my second. We were also filming for our next episode of Hooked on OC and although I’m positive that it wasn’t as exciting as Jeff’s bluefin, it was still pretty cool. And sheepshead is delicious by the way.
