Just got home from some dinner after our final pre registration for the Flounder Royale and am happy to report we are off to an awesome start. As of tonight, we’ve got 24 boats registered with a purse right around $17,000 and we’ve still got our main registration next week at Bahia Marina on Thursday, July 30 from 4-7 PM. For perspective, last year at this time we had about 12 boats registered and our final boat count was 34 and our final purse was $22,000. Flounder Royale 2026 could be a good one!! Speaking of purse, the HUK Big Fish Classic registration has ended and the purse will be a big number at $693,000. 54 boats will fish two windows this weekend to see if they can capture a piece of it. I’ll be there every night calling the shots with my buddy Coconut Hedges. Stop by and see us at Talbot Street and see some Big Fish!
Anglers fishing the Big Fish Classic this weekend will be looking for some of the tuna that Captain Chase Eberle and the crew of Chasin’ Tides Charters caught today. This nice bluefin landed on deck this morning and this afternoon it was a nice sheepshead from the OC Inlet.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters put today’s group on the elusive Inshore Super Slam that consisted of a keeper flounder, a keeper tautog, an 8 pound bluefish and a 12.5 pound sheepshead.
Captain Tony Battista of Saltwater Adventures fished this evening and put his anglers on three keeper flounder out of about 18 fish.
Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters had two great trips today with keeper flounder up to 24″ and a nice big sheepshead.
Morgan Mericle fished the Route 50 bridge and lucked into this 24″ slot red drum.
