First of all….Happy Father’s Day to all you Dad’s out there!! It was a beautiful day and I hope you got to spend it with your loved ones!
Yesterday we had the crazy story of Mark Ensor catching an 8 1/2 pound flounder with a clam rake and an even bigger flounder was caught today out of Delaware. Mike Volz of Marydel, DE fishing with Judi Volz, Maddi Spaulding and Shane and Bri Mann on Fish Whisperer Charters with Captain Rodney Jones and mate Brent Jones caught this beautiful 9.6 pound flounder. The big flattie was caught on a green bucktail and squid strip in 78′ of water near the SW B bouy out of Indian River inlet. Weighed at Hook ’em and Cook ’em at Fish in OC partner Indian River Marina.
Thankfully the weatherman was off with the forecast for today and the offshore fleet was able to get out to the canyons to put some more hurt on the yellowfin tuna population.
Mike Brzuchalski and his crew had a banner day on the charter boat MARLI with Captain Mark Hoos and mate Mark Stephens. They captured 11 yellowfin tunas and four gaffer mahi. The fish were all caught on ballyhoo’s and spreader bars near the Washington Canyon.
Captain Jeremy Blunt on the Wrecker out of The Ocean City Fishing Center had a great day today as well putting his crew on 11 yellowfin and three gaffer mahi.
The Boss Hogg fishing out of Sunset Marina had the Schwartz boys on board today and were out early, back early with seven nice yellowfin and six gaffer mahi.
Captain Joe Drosey on Rhonda’s Osprey fishing out of Sunset Marina had a good day in the Baltimore Canyon catching eight yellowfin tuna and one mahi.
I got a report from Jeff Rosenkilde who was fishing with the Always Something out of Indian River who had an awesome catch a few days ago. The crew combined for three big bigeye tuna and 12 yellowfin on their trip to the canyons.
The party boats were busy today with Father’s wanting to catch some sea bass and flounder. My pal Nick Denny was on board the Morning Star with Captain Monty Hawkins today and sent some great pics of their catch. The Morning Star had good sea bass fishing with around 90 keepers in the boat, three keeper flounder, a few ling cod and one really nice bluefish.
Captain Chris Mizurak on board the Angler reported much better sea conditions today and good fishing as well with sea bass up to 2 3/4 pounds.
Tim Bunting got to spend some quality time with his son Tyler today in the bay behind Assategue Island….he also got outfished. Kyle had the hot rod and caught two throwback flounder, a small trout and this nice 18″ keeper flounder.
