Spring Mix II Wins Memorial Day Tournament

Spring Mix II Wins Memorial Day Tournament

We had peeks of sunshine throughout the day, but overall it was overcast and now it is pouring down rain where I am in Ocean Pines.  There are some severe thunderstorms rolling through the area so if you’re out and about be safe.

The 9th Annual Ocean City Marlin Club Memorial Day Tournament is in the books and although only 9 boats participated because of the weather forecast everyone had a good time and the Marlin Club was able to write a nice check to the Kratz Memorial Foundation which is what the tournament is all about.  Here are your winners with payout amounts.  Congratulations to Fish in OC charter partner Spring Mix II with Captain Chris Watkowski!

There was some decent flounder fishing in the bay on the high tide before the water started getting dirty.  Blake Gunther of the Ocean City Fishing Community caught a couple of nice keepers first thing this morning.

Captain Chris Mizurak on board the party boat Angler reports a pick of sea bass over the past couple of days.  There have been some nice fish coming over the rail including this 3 1/4 pounder.

The Judith M with Captain John Bunting has been having a good weekend of bottom fishing out of Bahia Marina.  Seven year old Casey (and Carmilita Meadows from Bowie MD) caught and released a 13′ tautog, Dave Omission and Kim Oswald from South Jersey caught some nice sea bass up to two pounds, Adam Flenner, Joppa MD caught and released a big 19 inch tautog, TJ Bunting of Salisbury, MD caught and released a nice sized tautog, Mike Fatem of Laurel, MD caught and released a nice tautog and Avery Harmon of Salisbury, MD also caught and released a nice tautog.

Marc Turner caught and released this school sized rockfish on a clam bait in the Ocean City surf this morning.
