Day 2 At The Big Fish Classic

Day 2 At The Big Fish Classic

I just got home from day 2 scales action at the HUK Big Fish Classic and I have to admit…..it sucked.  Not the tournament, but the weather.  We lucked out for the first hour or so of scales action, but then the skies opened up.  We had to turn all of our equipment off, we lost the live broadcast for almost an hour and most of us came home soaked……but there were some fish weighed!  Fish in OC charter partner All In was the first boat to the scales and weighed a nice stringer of bluefin tuna and then several other boats weighed tuna as well.  The leaderboard breakdown for heaviest fish is easy as the No Limit weighed three quality fish and now sits in 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in the Big Fish category.  We already know of some blue marlin that have been boated and Austin Ensor and the #gang have boated a swordfish tonight.  I have a feeling tomorrow’s scales action is going to be crazy and the weather forecast is really good…..thank God!  If you can’t make it to Talbot Street check it out live at www.bigfishclassic.com

Away from the tournament there was some pretty good bottom fishing going on in the ocean and in the bay.  Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star reported a nice day of fishing with some limits of flounder.  Biggest fish of the day went to Nino Mazzapetti of Boyerstown, PA who had a nice 21.5″ fish.

I saw Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler down at Talbot Street this evening where he told me, “pics are on Facebook” and that he had plenty of good sea bassing today.

Last night Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters put Chris Pollock and his daughters on some good catch and release shark fishing where they released sharks up to 7′ in length.  This morning the Burton family had 13 triggerfish and 25 bluefish.

The bay water is finally coming in a little cleaner on the incoming tide and Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service was there this morning to take advantage of it.  Captain John put these junior anglers on two nice keeper flounder.

Bear down at the Oceanic Pier sent this photo of Matt from Bishopville, Md who caught a nice black drum from the north sea wall on a sand flea bait.

Scott Frysinger sent this photo of Chad Wunch with a 17.5″ flounder he caught while fishing on the Just One More.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing had another good day of shooting putting his guys on some quality southern rays.

We had another beautiful day today with unseasonably warm temperatures, no precipitation and very light winds.  The wind was almost too light to get a good drift this morning, but there was enough current for some… READ MORE
