I had the pleasure of fishing with my boy Captain Luke Blume of the C Boys today for our next episode of Hooked on OC and although the marlin eluded us we did catch a bunch of nice mahi. There was a big swell this morning that had subsided nicely by the afternoon and it was sunny out there all day. It was good weather, good company and fishing was good. Fishing was good for some of the other boats in the fleet today as well as some marlin were released and some mountains of mahi were boxed.
Captain Joe Drosey of Rhonda’s Osprey had a great day out there in the deep near us. Captain Joe put his crew of Mike, Mike, Mike and Grant on three white marlin releases and a boat limit of 60 mahi. I wonder how well “Hey Mike” worked out today.
The Restless Lady crews have had a good couple of days out of the Talbot Street Pier. Captain Todd Kurtz has found the mahi too and his clients have had a great time filling the box.
The crew of Spring Mix II with Captain Chris Watkowski didn’t want to be left out so they put their crew on a box full of mahi today.
Captain Jeremy Blunt of the Wrecker put his crew on a white marlin release and…..you guessed it…..a pile of mahi.
Captains Frank and Franky Pettolina of the Last Call had a great day with 71 year old angler Brooke Duvall today. Captain Franks put Brooke on some nice mahi, one white marlin release and a blue marlin release estimated at 350 pounds that took two hours to get to the boat.
Bottom fishing over ocean structure was good for the party boat fleet today. Captain John Bunting of the Judith M put his clients on 120 keeper sea bass on squid and clam baits and also released another 250 or so undersized fish. The Ocean Princess had a good day over ocean structure too with some good sea bass coming over the rail. Kevin Twilley had a nice 24″ flounder today and the big fish of the day was a beauty of a 27″ flounder.
Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler also reported good fishing in the ocean on today’s trip. Captain Chris had several nice sea bass and flounder come over the rail.
Flounder fishing in the bay right now is a little hit or miss with the cloudy water, but there are still some fish to be caught. Captain Drew Zerbe of the Tortuga found some nice keepers on this afternoon’s trip.
