The Ocean City Inshore Classic is ON

The Ocean City Inshore Classic is ON

Chalk us up for another beautiful fall day in and around Ocean City today with unseasonably warm temperatures, light winds and sunny skies.  Tomorrow looks like another nice day right before things change drastically on Thursday with the arrival of the remnants of hurricane Michael.  Michael is forecast to make landfall on the Florida panhandle sometime tomorrow and then move inland toward the east coast before being picked up by an approaching cold front that should sweep him off to sea.  Our local forecast is calling for some pretty terrible weather Thursday into Friday, but almost all forecasts that I’ve looked at have things shaping up quickly Friday and right now the weekend looks beautiful.  Saturday and Sunday look to have sunny skies, much cooler temperatures and light winds…..hopefully that holds.  We are keeping an eye on things, but as of right now the Ocean City Inshore Classic is a definite go with registration Friday evening at Sunset Marina’s activity room from 5 – 7 PM.  I hope to see some of you there!

The mahi were a little bit harder to come by today for Captain Joe Drosey and the crew of Rhonda’s Osprey, but Captain Joe was still able to scratch out dinner and a white marlin release.

Had a so-so sea bass bite for a good bit of our 10 hour day, but when they turned on – sweet!  Morning Star ended up with a boat limit of sea bass, a mahi, some triggers, some fluke, and the biggest scup Captain Monty has seen in a few years.  Jack Pearson of Ocean Pines took the pool with a nice 20″ sea bass.  Also pictured are Ron Warner of Denver, PA – Gerald Meadows of Salisbury – Bob Houser of Carlisle, PA – George Steiger of Belcamp, MD – Leroy Park of Bear, DE – Noel Picard of Northern VA – & Brian Carneiro of Lewes, DE.

Budd Heim of the Atlantic Coast Sportfishing Association was fishing with fellow member Kevin Welkner today and had a great day with the flounder.  The duo boated seven keeper flounder including Kevin’s 23 1/4″ doormat on live bunker and Gulp.

You can’t see all of the fish in this selfie, but Captain Brad McCabe of Bay Time Charters boxed three nice keeper flounder up to 21″ this afternoon.
