Jumbo Bass and Triggers

Jumbo Bass and Triggers

We had another beautiful “fall” day today with sunny skies and warmer than normal temperatures and there were lots of folks out fishing.  I even dropped a few sand fleas on the south jetty to no avail where the wind was blowing pretty good out of the south and there were some big sets breaking on the south side.  Out in the ocean it was a different story where it was absolutely beautiful.

The party boat fleet reported some good fishing today and Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star even had a boat limit of sea bass and some nice triggerfish.

Coming from far, far off the coast, tropical storm Jerry’s ground swells beneath an otherwise calm sea made for a fine day on the water.
Dropped 22 large reef blocks made into two units and slid just a bit further offshore.
The sea bass bite was finest kind all day – ending in a boat limit. In fact, even underway for home we had a bite – a lively 15.5 inch trigger, caught by Caleb Supensky of Uniontown PA, bit the heck out of mate Cody’s finger. You’d have sworn Sasquatch had just pulled Cody’s molars barehanded..
The Supensky family split the sea bass pool with Ross Carmadella (lt blue) of Centreville MD. Theirs was 19.25 inches, and Ross’s was 21 – but both weighted the same..
Also in the group snaps are Fleming Hansen of Oceanview DE – Bob Wilson from Chicoteauge VA – Scott Hanback of Chincoteauge – & Wayne Fawley Of Garnett Valley PA..
Even my greenhorn decky, DeeDee, got in some drops – here with a double keeper. Can’t show clients what to do if you don’t know. She didn’t seem to mind the extra study.

Capitan Chris Mizurak of the Angler reported that his bite started a little slow today, but picked up nicely and his anglers were able to put loads of sea bass in the boat.  Captain Chris also got a shot of the flat calm ride home.

Big shout out to Oliver and Ben who were on board with Captain Chris and had a great day today too!!  Apparently the guys are followers of Fish in OC and big fans of Hooked on OC so they get singled out and congratulated in the fishing report!  Appreciate you guys very much!!

Big Bird Cropper and his buddy Dave had a crazy good day at the route 50 bridge.  The guys combined forces to catch an inshore “grand slam” that included keeper bluefish, flounder and even a legal rockfish.  There’s a good chance the fish were caught on Big Bird’s World Famous Roy Rig…..good chance, like 100%.

Cindy has been killing it on the north jetty and today she did it again catching this beauty of a triggerfish from the sea wall.  Thanks to Bear down at the Oceanic Pier for the pic!
