Inshore Specialist

Inshore Specialist

The offshore scene was closed for business today.  The buoy report this morning when the offshore fleet was getting ready to crank the engines read like this….Wind Speed-17 knots, Wave Height-6 ft, Average Wave Period-5.4 seconds, Wave Steepness-steep…..landlubber terms…..ROUGH!  I’m pretty sure nobody even thought about leaving the dock this morning to fish offshore.

Inshore was different.  Partly cloudy skies, 82 degrees and manageable winds had some anglers fishing the back bays of Ocean City for Flounder, Bluefish, Tautog and Croaker.  Water conditions were less than ideal after the rain, but that just makes it interesting for an inshore specialist.

Captain John Prather on the Ocean City Guide Service had an awesome day today!  His trips consisted of a combination of 34 Bluefish, lots of throwback Flounder, some keeper Flounder up to 21″ and the rare Houndfish.  The Flounder and Houndfish were caught on the outgoing tide behind Assateague Island around Castaways Campground on a combination of white and green Gulp 4″ Swimming Mullet.  The Bluefish bite was around the inlet on the incoming tide.  If you want to get in on some awesome inshore fishing action give Captain John a call at 301-991-3308 or email [email protected].
