This has probably been the longest stretch of “no fishing weather” that has happened in quite a while. I said in a report last week that these northeast blows last an odd number of days. At the time, I was hoping it was going to be in the 1, 3, maybe 5 day range but it looks like it’s going to end up closer to 9 days. I’ve seen guys fishing the Rt 50 bridge and I’ve seen a couple of boats drifting the bay, but with the way the water looks they can’t be having much luck.
The very little good news is that it looks like we’re going to have a very short weather window next week where the fleet may be able to give it a go and see if the tuna fish are still around. Tuesday’s forecast might be doable, and Wednesday should be fine. The bad news is that the forecast calls for it to pick up out of the northeast as soon as Wednesday night, and rumor has it that it roughs up again starting Thursday. I’m glad that the forecast doesn’t go any further than Wednesday night right now because I don’t want it to ruin my weekend.
