Happy 4th of July!!

Hit the vid for the Daily Catch at Sunset Marina!!

We had a breeze out of the south today that made things interesting on the ocean, but it was still plenty fishable and lots of folks got out to enjoy an awesome 4th of July!!

6, soon to be 7-year-old Caspian Twilley was out on the Fish Bound today showing his dad Captain Kevin Twilley how it’s done and he had a great time with his good luck sunglass wearing dinosaur shirt.  Caspian was cutting bait and passing it out, and he also helped the fish box with two nice flounder of 3 and 5.5 pounds!

Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters had a couple of good trips on today’s crowded bay putting keeper flounder in the box on both trips.

Lamont Hilbert fished the OC Inlet this morning and had several throwback flounder and these two keepers of 18″ and 20″.

Anglers fishing on board the Tortuga out of Bahia Marina had a crazy good day with the flounder putting a bunch of keepers in the box.

Mike Brockmeyer found this 23″, 4 3/4 pound flounder fishing a live spot in front of Martha’s Landing.

Jasper Warehime fished with Jeff Weeks today and had a bunch of throwback tautog and this one keeper sized fish for the fish box.

“The crew on the private boat McFish with Remington Mowbray, Tommy McDonald, Grayson Wilson, Tom McDonald, Steve McDonald had a trip offshore deep dropping and got these bunch of golden tilefish with be biggest at 27# and an almost limit of Blueline Tilefish. It was the youngin’s first trip offshore and had a great day on the water.”

Capitan Chris Mizurak of the Angler had some nice fish on board today’s trip with some big sea bass and some flounder around the rail.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star enjoyed a nice day of fishing this 4th of July.

Cleared the inlet and found a fair bit of S/SSW breeze. Choppy? Yes.
Never did build a set though, even with speeds increasing to mid/upper teens as the day wore on? No sea height.
Trish & Colleen and then Mason & Haven did the deed on today’s pyramid reef deployment. With 80 pyramids at that spot, cbass love it.
Paddled on off a ways more before fishing and found the bit wanting. Gradually something gave way and they started to chew.
As I’d have bet weeks ago, Patricia was high hook. Her numbers weren’t enough to undo Trish’s reef builder’s karma though. She soundly trounced everyone aboard with a nice cbass.
Wasn’t the best of days; sure have seen worse though.
Y’all have a safe 4th!
Cheers,
Monty
David Moore found a couple of nice red drum in the Assateague surf last night measuring 45″ and 50″.

JUMBO flounder from our Nantucket Shoals trip last week….check it out!!
