We had chilly start to the morning today and a little left over sea thanks to yesterday’s blow, but things calmed down nicely by the afternoon and folks were out bending some big rods in celebration of Thanksgiving Eve.
I had the pleasure of fishing on board the WRECKER today with Captain Jeremy Blunt and crew, and though we only caught one fish, it was a big one. The other guys on the crew gave me the opportunity to catch the one and only bluefin tuna of the day, and it was awesome fun. The big bluefin was 67″ long and weighed in at a healthy 191 pounds. This was my personal best bluefin tuna and the catch should make for a great episode of Hooked on OC in the coming weeks.
Captain Dale Lisi of Foolish Pleasures had an epic day of bluefin tuna fishing going 7 for 7 bites. Captain Dale put his crew on three “under” bluefin tuna, one “over” bluefin tuna and also released three more “over” fish.
Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing gave the river fish a break today and instead headed to the tuna grounds in his duck boat. The trip paid off well with Captain Marc and DJ finding this beauty of a 70″ bluefin.
A couple of my buddies from Bowie High School headed out in their private boat Buoy Boy and had a good day. Adrian and Steve Tapley, Joe Delvechio and Sam Collins captured this very nice 65″ bluefin tuna. They were going to be pulling lines at 3:30 when this fish hit at 3:28.
