It was a little chilly on the water today, but with lightish winds it was a great day to get out there and do some fishing. I headed out to the south bay this afternoon after church and had a great time catching up some flounder. I hadn’t caught a flounder in Ocean City yet in 2026, and today I caught not only my first fish and my first keeper, but also caught four more keeper sized fish. I used Deadly Doubles with Gulp and shiners and had fish of 17″, 17″, 18″ and 18″ that went in the cooler and another keeper sized fish of 16.5″ that I released. The water is clean right now and the Thorofare and the channel behind Assateague Island are holding some fish.
Kevin Graybill and crew caught 6 total flounder with three keepers from 16.5″ to 17.25″ on Deadly Doubles with Gulp and minnows and Kevin caught and released a huge 42″ rockfish at the route 50 bridge. Kevin was shocked when the big striper ate a 4″ paddle tail in shallow water on the west side of the bridge.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters had a great day for his crew putting them on a keeper tautog and four keeper flounder.

Frank Lanigan and his crew have seen some good fishing over the past couple of days with a single limit, a 2-person limit and five keepers today.
Skeeter Dolmetsch caught this 18″ keeper flounder using a Deadly Double and gulp swimming mullet today in the Thorofare.
Bob Haltmeier reported in today that there are some keeper flounder being caught at the Oceanic Pier the past couple of tides.
