Some Leaderboard Shake Up On Day 2 of the 2026 Poor Girl's Open

I just returned from another busy day at the scales for the 2026 Poor Girl’s Open and we had a little shakeup on the leaderboard. There was some very heavy rain just before scales opened at 4 PM this afternoon and when those storms moved off the beach they intensified and met some of our participating boats on their way back to the scales. There were some pretty terrifying stories of very high winds, rough seas, lightning strikes and even a microburst that did some damage to one boat, but everyone returned to port safely and that’s what matters most. Here is your leaderboard after two days of fishing.

Captain Chase Eberle of the Chasin’ Tides Charters had a great day on ocean structure today with a load of keeper flounder along with a few sea bass and triggerfish.

Captain Tony Battista of Saltwater Adventures had a nice morning trip on the ocean with some keeper flounder for this group.

This lucky angler found a keeper flounder today fishing with Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters.

Luke Wrye finished up his OC fishing season today with this nice 24.5″ keeper flounder and a couple of mahi.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had another nice day on the ocean for his anglers today

Underway into an incredibly calm sea this AM. Nice when it happens. Found our way off to Ringmaster Reef where Clammaster Tom & Shaun deployed a 16 block reef unit. Donated by the good folks at York Building Products, these blocks are 20 inch monsters & make great reef.

From there? East of course.

Well, but why leave? If there’s great reef there, why press on?

Works out well for smaller boats targeting fluke and tog – even sea bass when not many are needed. Used to be Everyone fished cbass in the area.

Will partyboats like mine one day be able to fish reefs inside 15 miles again? I sure hope so. So long as the size limit remains above 11 inches, however, it’s not going to happen.

I’ll take yet another deep dive into that reasoning in an upcoming report.

Ocean remained lake-calm far into the day. On our very first drop Cody landed a nice fluke. Nice drifts – calm seas; catching continued. We even had a school of mahi come under the boat much to their detriment and anglers’ dining delight.

As the current came to a stop, however, the bite wasn’t what it had been.

Then came rain. �Time to go anyway… But ugh. I wanted to drive up our numbers. Most kept fishing until it became a mini-monsoon.

Sea bass bite never did get hot today – caught some certainly, but flounder put on a nice show.

Did I mention Clammaster Tom? Thought so. Used to be Jigmaster Tom, right?

Tom was limited on fluke a touch after noon today and would catch more.

But he wanted sea bass. Was using clam.

Not too often we see flounder eating clam – especially not most of a limit’s worth!

It’s fishing.

Cody won today’s sea bass pool and Clammaster won the t-shirt for heaviest fluke.
