Big Swords, Big Reds and a BigEye

Big Swords, Big Reds and a BigEye

We woke up to very different weather today as compared to yesterday.  The temperature was about 20 degrees cooler, skies were cloudy and rain was on the way.  The rain started late morning and is still scattered throughout the area, but since the wind wasn’t terrible, some folks got out to bend a rod.

Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters has been on fire the past couple of days with the big red drum action and today was more of the same.  Tim Westby released his first drum of 48″, Cooper Sweeney caught and released his first red drum of 52″ and one more was added for a total of three big red drum released on Lucky Break today.

Captain Dale Lisi of Foolish Pleasures had some great offshore fishing before the weekend when he captured a beautiful 337 pound swordfish, a 114 pound bigeye tuna and a pile of mahi.

Captain Willie Zimmerman and the crew of RoShamBo took a deep run south for a 36 hour overnight trip and came back with an absolute meat haul that included a yellowfin tuna, tilefish, sea bass, mahi and even a keeper flounder.

Sean Hitchens and Brian Reynolds had some luck with the stripers at the Route 50 bridge today even putting a keeper fish in the net.
