Good Fishing On A Sheet of Glass

Good Fishing On A Sheet of Glass

I just got home from registration for the 10th Annual Ocean City Inshore Classic and I’m happy to report that even though there is a hurricane coming into the area on Sunday, we still have 35 boats and over $22,000 in prize money.  Today the weather was so nice that one captain referred to the ocean as a sheet of glass…..and there was some pretty good fishing.

Captain Willie Zimmerman of the RoShamBo had a great day in the deep today putting his crew on a very nice swordfish and a couple of piles of mahi and tilefish.

Captain Tony Battista of Saltwater Adventures and his crew had a nice day in the ocean today with a bunch of keeper sea bass and some tasty triggerfish.

Anglers fishing on board the Angler with Captain Chris Mizurak had a good day with beautiful conditions and good fishing.  There were lots of keeper sea bass, some flounder and even a few big croaker.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star really enjoyed today’s flat calm conditions

Sea Bass & Fluke(Not!) – 10/9/26
Dern sure another Facebook sunrise. Nice when it happens. Found the ocean calm getting calmer. By 11 it was a slightly undulating sheet of glass. By 1 it was so flat a seagull would leave a wake.
Jeff & Brian did the deed on today’s block drop.
Bullseye..
That reef doesn’t know it yet, but it’s going to become crazy good.
Paddled on off to where I thought sea bass and fluke fishing would be excellent
..Oh, but it was not!
I just knew flounder would bite today.
Rats!!
Loooonnng run later the day turned around – catching cbass for hours at least. Lot of throwbacks; couple triggers, couple bonita too..
Rick won the pool with a fish that usually wouldn’t. Still, after the start we had, I was very glad to see my anglers getting bit at all.
Jason texted me this morning. He works at VisionRay up in Pottstown – fishes offshore here. They supply our allies around the world with ROVs (remotely operated vessel – tethered – underwater) for military, search and rescue, oil & gas work – and fisheries.
Not sure if he needs to test the ROV he’s bringing or if it’s just Christmas in October. Either way, we have reef I really want to look at!
Get in – unload – reload – go look at some reef!
Ocean is sooooo Calm now. Had wanted to go Sunday but that looks really doubtful. Go when able!
Cheers,
Monty
