I just got back from a beautiful evening of fishing up at the Route 90 bridge with my buddy Bryan Mindte of Sunset Provisions where we had some fun catching and releasing some stripers. We caught 10 total fish with Bryan catching 8 of them on Thing a Ma Jigs on the incoming tide. Tons of fun!
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star was on the rip today where he put his folks on some sea bass and some porgy aka. scup

Underway before dawn this day; a crisp affair – sunup broke clean. After Big Jon & Tannk dropped blocks; kept paddling for a looonnng time.
Weatherman said ten knots NE – no gusts. Another weatherman said 10 to 15 NE..
By the time I was 20 miles off I knew the higher forecast was going to be spot on – except for the “10” part.
Just 15.

Plenty doable.
Wind all but died midday though and glad of it. Came real nice.
Have video of a wreck in 2007 loaded with sea whip at 120 feet of water. It still is. Trying to figure out why we seem to have less to no whip a bit further offshore. Where is the line? Will get after it this fall/early winter – will determine how deep it grows these days.
Was great to do some fishing with Shelly though she soundly trounced me with double digits (someone has to do capt stuff!) Big Jon boxed out and was helping pay the rent. My crew, though doing great, did not get a single snap of Big Jon with a fish. He’d have won the pool – but noooo picture…

Tomorrow is usually a lay day. Want to keep investigating sea whip depth when I have a light rail though.
It’s wide open if you want to go. Tues doesn’t look so good!
