After an unwanted hiatus from the ocean a couple of Fish in OC charter boats made their way out to the canyons today to see if there were still some fish around. After a blow like Hermine it can be difficult to decide where to drop the lines in because there’s no baseline on what’s being caught and where…..it’s basically starting from scratch. Captain Jeremy Blunt on the Wrecker out of the Ocean City Fishing Center and Captain Mark Hoos on the Marli out of Sunset Marina were the first two boats out of the inlet after the storm today and were happy to be the offshore guinea pigs.
Wrecker with Captain Jeremy had a great day trolling the Washington when he put his crew on two white marlin releases, two yellowfin tuna and a handful of mahi. Captain Jeremy also reported that the ocean “laid out to nothing” and thanks his weather app “Fishweather” for being right once again.
Larry Grabenstein and his crew had a fantastic day on the charter boat MARLI with Captain Mark Hoos and mate Mark Stephens. They boxed 31 mahi, released 3 white marlin and a big blue marlin in the Washington Canyon.
This is a good sign that the fish are still around and hopefully stick around through October and even November again. The water is certainly warm enough to keep fish around for some time.
