It was a hot one today! The wind blew pretty good too both inshore and offshore. The bay around the route 90 bridge had white caps on it this afternoon and the report from offshore was that it was a little bumpy. The good news was that there were some tuna caught and that always makes the conditions seem not so bad.
The Restless Lady with Captain Todd Kurtz and mate Tito returned from an overnighter at about 10:30 this morning and they had a box full of yellowfin tuna. Captain Todd put Brent Kelly and his crew on 15 yellowfin tuna and three mahi on their trip. Brent and crew will be looking to repeat in a couple of weeks when they fish the Restless Lady for the HUK Big Fish Classic.
The crew of Boss Hogg with Captain Brian Porter was on the meat today in the bumpy conditions. The “Hogg” had 12 yellowfin tuna on today’s trip.
Captain Joe Drosey of Rhonda’s Osprey had a good day on the ocean today as well when he put his crew on 11 nice yellowfin and a mahi and was back to post it to Facebook by 3:oo this afternoon.
The crew of the Spring Mix II released an estimated 250 pound blue marlin in the Washington Canyon today. Captain Chris Watkwoski was running the boat and mates were Marshall Freng and Ayrton “The Kayak Kid” Pryor. Ayrton got a couple of awesome shots of the blue boat side.
My young friend Danny Tobin has been in Ocean City for a few days and he has been fishing as much as he can. Yesterday it was a nice sea bass aboard the Morning Star with Captain Monty Hawkins and today it was some large mouth bass from the Adkins Mill pond.
The bay flounder fishing has still been good in the windy conditions the past few days thanks to the clean water conditions. The Bay Bee with Captain Cale Layton had some nice keeper fish on today’s trips.
Gabby Verno from Lee, NH caught this nice 20″ keeper flounder on yesterday’s evening trip aboard the Tortuga with Captain Drew Zerbe. The fish was caught on the south jetty on a shiner / flounder belly combo and the net man was mate Matt Harris.
Sophia and Kinley Kuzniacki had a great time fishing with their parents and grandmother on board the Bad Influence with Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss Fishing. The girls used 4″ white Gulp baits to catch some flounder for some great family fun.
Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service reported in some more keeper flounder today and says that the Z Man baits have “been on fire!”
If you read the Daily Angle on a regular basis you won’t be surprised to hear that Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing has been all over the rays in the bay behind Ocean City. Captain Marc has been putting shooters on some awesome action with cow nosed and southern rays.
