Today’s fishing wasn’t the stellar sweetness that it’s been over the past few weeks but it was a good day overall. The offshore action was spread around a bit today with some boats fishing off in the Poor Man’s canyon, while others stayed inshore at the Hot Dog and Tea Cup. The Poor Man’s produced a good Dolphin bite and the Tea Cup gave anglers a good time with Bluefin, Yellowfin and Dolphin.
Captain Mark Hoos on board the Marli out of Sunset Marina reports that Chess Hedrick and his crew from Georgetown Delaware had a banner day on the charter boat MARLI with Captain Mark Hoos and Mate Mark Stephens. They had 7 Tunas (2 bluefin & 5 yellowfin) and a pair of Mahi’s. All of the fish were caught on Ilander Trackers at the Tea Cup.
The Boss Hogg also fishing out of Sunset Marina fished in 71 degree water in the Poor Man’s canyon and caught 19 Dolphin on the troll and then did some deep dropping and ended up with 25 Tilefish and 9 nice Sea Bass.
Inshore the focus is still on the Flounder fishing. Not only has the bay fishing for Flounder been good, but they have also made their appearance on the near shore wrecks and reefs for our party boats. Captain Monty Hawkins on the Morning Star fishing out of the Ocean City Fishing Center says the bite is still not where he’d like it, but the Morning Star did have a few hot drops today. The biggest Fluke of the day was 5 pounds and there were a few decent Sea Bass as well. Here are Burkhard and Ryan Sandlas from Richmond with some nice Flounder.
