A First Blue Marlin and Some Good Bottom Fishing

Check out the Daily Catch with Captain Andrew of Fish ON!!

Today was another picture perfect day to be outside and be on the water, but all that is about to drastically change.  The inshore forecast for the next two days is “tropical storm conditions expected”….that’s not good.  The wind could blow 35 – 40 knots with gusts to over 50 and it could rain anywhere between 1 and 3 inches.  No one will be going to the ocean.  I won’t say no one will be fishing because, well, it’s Ocean City and I just wouldn’t be surprised.  Be safe if you have to go out in the next couple of days.

Tomorrow’s weather may be garbage, but today’s weather was awesome!  It allowed Captain Jeremy Blunt of the WRECKER to get offshore and put his daughter Piper on her first ever blue marlin release.  He also put Piper’s cousin Tyler Hasenei on his first ever white marlin release.  Mate Chase Porter from the Spring Mix II was in the cockpit.

The crew of the Boss Hogg with Captain Brian Porter had a great day in the deep releasing two white marlin and boxing a nice yellowfin tuna and a bunch of mahi.

Capitan Joe Drosey of Rhonda’s Osprey had a nice day for his folks releasing a white marlin and lining up a cooler full of mahi.

Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break was on blistering fire today with two awesome trips to the inlet.  Captain Jason put his crews on flounder, triggerfish, and a whole bunch of nice sheepshead.

Yesterday, Captain Tony Battista of Saltwater Adventures had a good day for his anglers putting them on some tasty sea bass fillets.

I got to head out on the Angler today with Captain Chris Mizurak and deckhands Steve and Mike and we had an awesome time.  Fishing was very decent with lots of sea bass around the rail and some keeper flounder as well.  We even saw a nice triggerfish.  Lamar from D.C. won the fish pool with his flounder that was just over 19″.  It was a bunch of fun and you can look for it on our YouTube and hopefully on Hooked on OC in the coming weeks.

Back bay flounder fishing might get messed up with this weekend’s weather, but its been pretty good up until now.  Anglers on the Tortuga out of Bahia Marina have enjoyed plenty of keeper sized fish this week.
