A Francis Scott Key Getaway

A Francis Scott Key Getaway

Francis Scott Key

main-building2

As I booked a room at the Francis Scott Key Family Resort in West Ocean City, Maryland, the old saying, “While the cat’s away, the mouse will play,” came to mind. Scott is working his fifth fishing trade show of the off-season so Ryan & I decided to visit the always amazing Francis Scott Key “Caribbean Key” indoor pool.

I am always curious to see how people treat me when they don’t know I plan to write about them on our website. The young lady at the front desk was very pleasant & helpful & checked us in right away. We have been to multiple birthday parties at the indoor pool, but have never stayed in the hotel. We were assigned to the “Florida” building which sits adjacent to the indoor pool & made life super easy when walking back with two sopping wet children.

The room is very clean & accommodating for Ryan, his friend & myself. I love the fact that this particular building includes a kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator, oven, microwave & dishes. It’s perfect for families who might want to save a little money by not having to eat out for every meal. The room includes a table for four & a nice large closet area by the bathroom to stash your clothes.

The kids wasted no time getting into their bathing suits for the highlight of this trip… the amazing indoor pool. If you have kids & haven’t been to this pool then you need to book a room quickly! It is so much fun. As I look around the pool, I realize the adults in the pool are having just as much fun as the kids. Later, I see Ryan playing a spirited game of pool volleyball with some other children & adults. Everyone is in the pool laughing like old-time friends.

The deepest part of the indoor pool is four feet by the volleyball net. The majority of the pool is around 2-3 feet with many fun things to do like a sliding board, dumping buckets of water, shooting water & what seems like dozens of inflatable beach balls flying around. There is a baby pool section where the water is six inches deep for the wee ones. There is a lifeguard on duty who watches the kids very carefully.

Never fear if the pool isn’t your thing as an adult. They have an adult only hot tub overlooking the pool & sell “adult” beverages at the snack bar inside the “Caribbean Key” pool room. Relax & destress while the kids tire themselves out in the pool. #winning

The property also includes a nice outdoor pool & “sprayground,” an on-site restaurant & shuttle bus for use during the warmer months, free wi-fi, a nine hole mini golf course, volleyball, basketball, playground, arcade, fitness center, picnic/BBQ areas, beach shuttle & a fishing pond. There are so many fun activities to keep the kiddos entertained here all included in the price of the hotel room.
