It was a nice day today in Ocean City albeit a tad breezy. I finally got to put the Fish in OC skiff back in the water so I just had to take it out for a few hours. Unfortunately I was greeted with pretty dirty water at the top of the high tide so I was pretty confident the flounder weren’t going to bite. There were plenty of small sea bass and the birds were breaking on bluefish in the 2-4 pound range south of the route 50 bridge, but I was right and only caught one throwback in the couple of hours I was out. The tide should help clean the water up in the next few days so I’ll give it another go when it does.

As I was drifting I saw a couple of boats come in the inlet with some white marlin flags flying that I hear were in the Poor Man’s and maybe down at the Rockpile. I saw D.A. Sea heading to Sunset Marina with what looked like 6 or 7 releases. I also got one fishing report from Captain Monty Hawkins who was back on the rip after waiting for hurricane Florence to clear out and he had a pretty good day in tough conditions with a moderate sea and heavy current. Captain Monty reported clients had to use 12 ounces to hold bottom, but most scratched out some dinner.
Mike Grybos (& Annie) of Towson took the pool, barely, with a 19.5 inch fluke. Tina Chirachella (w/Vincent) of Columbia, MD gave him a tough go with her sea bass. Also pictured are Dennis O’Neil of Garnett Valley, PA – Len Smith of Florence, NJ – Paul Kissinger of Harrisburg, PA – & Bill White of Baltimore, MD.

Captain Drew Zerbe had the Tortuga out for two trips today and was able to find some keepers even though the water was less than clean.
