One of the reasons that the elusive white marlin is one of the most sought after gamefish in the world is the fact that they fight so aggressively. Not only is it not rare to have a white marlin jump and “greyhound” across the ocean, it is actually commonplace. Many of us know that Ocean City is considered the White Marlin Capital of the World. That nickname was associated with the town sometime in the 70’s according to Dale Timmons, who wrote an incredible article on Ocean City Fishing Heritage that you can see right here…. OC Fishing Heritage. The cool thing is that Ocean City continues to live up to that name, and a lot of that comes from the fishing in September.
The Spring Mix II out of the Ocean City Fishing Center with Captain Steve Selander and mates Riley McCabe and Ayrton Pryor did their part today to help Ocean City live up to the nickname. Anglers Frank McCarthy and Dan McCarthy went two for three on white marlin in the Poor Man’s Canyon today aboard Spring Mix II, and the crew got some awesome shots of the action.
I got a text today from Captain Monty Hawkins on Morning Star at 1:40 PM. When I get a text from Captain Monty that early in the afternoon it’s for one of two reasons. 1. The Morning Star didn’t fish that particular day or 2. Morning Star had a boat limit. BOOOOOM!!! That was it! Captain Monty filled EVERYBODY’S cooler early today and was heading back to the dock.
The wreck flounder fishing is out of this world right now so if you’d like to get on board with one of these specialists click the link….Inshore Fishing.
