As I get busier and busier this summer with fishing tournaments and filming episodes of Hooked on OC I find myself switching between my prescription glasses and my Costa sunglasses and it’s getting to be a pain in the butt. Taking off my sunglasses to look through a camera lens or to put on my regular glasses so I can read a Facebook post has just gotten old so I started to look for a place where I could get some prescription Costas….and I found one. An Optical Galleria in West Ocean City, MD in the Teal Marsh Shopping Center is a prescription Costa dealer and a full service optical boutique.
An Optical Galleria is a family owned company that can not only make prescription Costa sunglasses, but they have regular Costa sunglasses ready to walk out the door….AND they also have Costa’s new eyeglass frames in stock.
I’ve been wearing Costa sunglasses for over 25 years and I had no idea that they started making eyeglass frames until Chris Pino told me in the shop. I’m certainly glad they did because just like their sunglass frames, these eyeglass frames are fresh.
An Optical Galleria is first and foremost an optical boutique. When I say boutique I mean a beautifully decorated store with a huge selection of glasses for everyone.
They have over a dozen brands including Wiley X, Revo, Police, Alviero Martini, OVVO, Silhouette, SPY, Chopard, Izod with frames starting as low as $189.
They also carry Clik reading glasses that are super convenient for busy guys like me that don’t have prescription sunglasses yet or people that need to have readers easily accessible all the time. The Clik readers hang around your neck and when you’re ready to put them on a magnet between the eyes “clicks” and they’re ready to go. No more hanging them in the front of your collar or putting them on top of your head.
An Optical Galleria has 800-1,000 pair of eyeglasses in stock every day and all lens work is done right on site. They have a very quick turnaround with most prescription glasses being finished in a week or less. I didn’t realize that each lens for both eyeglasses and sunglasses no matter the shape are ground from a large piece of glass about the size of my hand.
When you visit An Optical Galleria you’ll be impressed by the awesome artwork originals that decorate the showroom done by owner Niki Pino. Niki does nature, scenery and fish artwork that not only decorates the store, it’s for sale as well. Ask her or Chris about an original piece if you’re in the market.
So if you’re in the market for some gorgeous artwork, a new pair of eyeglasses or a pair of prescription Costa sunglasses you’ve got to get over and see Niki, Bob and Chris Pino at An Optical Galleria. Their customer service is second to none and they are a local shop so you’ll always have someone to talk to about the progress of your eyewear. Just take your current prescription in and they’ll take good care of you. I guarantee it!
