Another Good Day of Fishing

Another Good Day of Fishing

We had another beautiful October day today in Ocean City with sunny skies and unseasonably warm temperatures and fishing continues to impress for this time of year.  There are still plenty of mahi to be had offshore in the canyons and inshore fishermen are experiencing some of the best fishing of the entire year.  Anglers fishing the bay today had to deal with water that was a little dirty, but the fish were still biting pretty good.  The worst thing that inshore anglers had to deal with today was the roar and squeal of hot rods and burnouts…and even that wasn’t too bad.

For the second day in a row Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service had one heck of a day of inshore fishing.  Captain John put his anglers on a bluefish, a 26″ red drum and four keeper flounder including a nice 22.5″, 4.5 pound doormat.

Offshore fishing is still alive with loads of mahi being caught out in the canyons.  Captain Joey Drosey of Rhonda’s Osprey out of Sunset Marina found a load of mahi today and put 50 good sized fish in the box.

I got an awesome photo from Allen Sklar with the message that though the fish aren’t thick by any stretch, there are some nice red drum showing up in the Assateague surf.  Here is a shot of Ron Reuter releasing a beautiful 43″ red.

The Tortuga with Captain Drew Zerbe has been having some good luck with keeper flounder the past few days.  Captain Drew has had lots of throwback action and some really nice fish pool winners.

Captain Marc Spagnola of Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing wants everyone to know that the rays haven’t left the building just yet.  Captain Marc is on the water right now and already has a nice cow nosed ray in the box after just getting started.

We are just one week out from the Ocean City Inshore Classic next Saturday and Sunday, October 14 and 15.  Sign ups are Friday afternoon from 5 PM til 7 PM at Sunset Grille.  The first 40 boats to sign up get our tournament bucket with one tee shirt with this awesome design from Red Sun Custom Apparel.  I hope to see you there!!    Ocean City Inshore Classic
