I just got back from sign-ups for the 2018 edition of the MidAtlantic and it seems like it is going to be another awesome event. Hooked on OC will be bringing you the live broadcast of scales action from both Cape May, NJ and Ocean City, MD as I’ll be hosting the online coverage and bringing in cameras from both ports. I’ll be able to update you on boats, fish weights and leaderboard standings throughout the event so tune in Monday through Friday from 5 PM until 9 PM each night at www.themidatlantic.com.
I’m not sure if I’ve seen flounder fishing as good as it has been this August in a long time. Anglers fishing ocean structure are having great luck and the water in the back bay has stayed really clean and there is a really nice class of fish back there. You’ll have your best luck getting a keeper on bigger baits like spot, mullet or bunker, but the old stand by’s of Gulp, minnows or shiners will catch them too. Captain John Prather of Ocean City Guide Service has been having great luck lately, but today he absolutely slayed the flounder. Captain John updated me as he went from 8 to 9 to 10 keepers on the afternoon fishing the east channel behind Ocean City.

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star reported that they ground out some decent flounder fishing today as well with a couple of four fish limits and still more anglers with three fish. Scott Raleigh had the pool with a 23.25 in fluke – also pictured: Ethan Blevins of Olney, MD – Dennis Hutton of Rosedale, MD – & Dan Calhoun of Wilmington, NC with some of today’s catch.

Captain Chris Mizurak of the Angler had some keeper flounder in the box today along with a couple of nice mahi that ended up in some lucky coolers.
