There were some lingering thunderstorms and rain to avoid on the water today, but it was very fishable and fishing was pretty darn good. Things look to change later this week as Hurricane Lee heads this direction….how much we don’t know yet.
There was some more epic billftshing in the deep today and the crew of the Fish On with Captain Andrew Dotterweich was able to get in on the action. Jay and Joseph Freeberry teamed up to release a white marlin, five white marlin and box two tunas.
Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin Tides got in on the offshore action releasing a sailfish and boxing up some tunas as well.
Captain Nick Sampson and his crew on Mobsquad Sportfishing had a good day with a nice wahoo ending up in the fish box.
13-Year-Old Dustin Leichling caught and released his first white marlin on board the private boat Dig Deeper with Captain Corey today.
Daniel Rubini and his crew had a mess of ribbonfish from D Buoy today.
Congratulations to the winners of this year’s Bahia Marina Flounder Pounder!!

Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star had a nice day on the rip today.
Derned if there wasn’t some art in Maryland’s eastern sky this morning. A pre-dawn soaker left broken cloud cover in grand color.
Though I had rain on my boat’s radar most all day, we had only to endure what amounted a heavy mist a few times while points west, it seemed, were drenched. Looked like Rehoboth/Lewes especially had a serious wet whooping while we enjoyed a gorgeous day offshore. I’m sure Delaware’s Rt.1 ‘Outlets’ benefitted handsomely. Letty & Ann muscled today’s reef blocks by the stern rail. Going for height at that spot – trying to hit the same spot over and over. Probably ought to drop our camera rig down and have a look. Nice day. Sure sent everyone home with plenty of cbass for dinner.. Had a flounder trip tomorrow – changed it to mahi because there may only be a few days left – Lee may put an end to our nearshore mahi. Still lots of room on that trip!!
