Boy it was a beautiful day today…and there were lots of anglers on the water getting it done! After a few blow days it was nice to see the offshore fleet back in the canyons where they found tuna, white marlin and mahi. Inshore the flounder bite was pretty good in the back bay on the high tide, but better in the ocean on structure. Overall it was a crazy good day of fishing!!
Mike Burt of the David and Mike Burt duo sent me this photo of Pumpin’ Hard’s awesome day offshore in the canyon. Captain Chad Meeks helped the guys put their anglers on 15 yellowfin tuna, two white marlin releases and a couple of nice mahi.
Captain Joe Drosey of Rhonda’s Osprey was happy to get back offshore after the blow and he showed it by putting his anglers on a nice day of fishing that included 14 yellowfin tuna, a couple of mahi and a white marlin release.
Captain Scott Stapleford and the crew of All In had one heck of a day offshore with 16 triggerfish, one yellowfin tuna and 11 mahi that included a stud 40 pounder.
The crew of Spring Mix II with Captain Chris Watkowski and mates Ayrton “The Kayak Kid” Pryor and Jacob Lewis fished the Washington Canyon today and rewarded their anglers with three yellowfin tuna and 27 mahi to spread across the dock.
Captain Corey Kennington of the Boss Hogg sent this photo of the Hogg’s day in from today that consisted of seven yellowfin tuna and a handful of mahi for the box.
Captain Stu Windsor of the Lisa put a couple of tuna in the box today and they also found a weedline that produced a mess of mahi.
My buddy and neighbor Steve Giannini had a good day of trolling offshore in his boat today and put 12 nice mahi in the boat.
Flounder fishing over ocean structure is improving daily and today Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star found a couple of drops that produced some nice fish for his clients.
The crew of the Judith M out of Bahia Marina used sharp eyes and a pink bucktail to land this big 48″ cobia that weighed in at 31 pounds. Pictured with the angler are mates Bobby Thomas, Max Thumma and Josh Mullens.
Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters fished over ocean structure today and had a nice catch of flounder. One drop produced what the angler thought was a behemoth of a flounder that actually turned into two fish on separate hooks that weighed 4 pounds and 5 pounds.
Ocean City Guide Service with Captain John Prather had a couple of trips today in different areas. This morning Captain John found some sharks at little gull shoal and some flounder and triggers at Russel’s Reef. This afternoon it was a bay trip where he put his clients on a keeper flounder and a 1/2 bushel of crabs to stuff it with.
Last night Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters was out for some nighttime shark fishing where he put his anglers on some sharpnose action. Today Captain Thayer had an inshore ocean trip that produced 40 bluefish, three triggerfish, tons of throwback sea bass and a throwback spadefish.
The Tortuga with Captain Drew Zerbe found some keeper flounder on both of his trips today. Here are the morning and afternoon pool winners.
Captain Marc Spagnola didn’t sleep in the last 24 hours so he could have some good action last night and again today. Commitment and coffee get you great action on southern and cow nosed rays and some nice houndfish.
