Man it was a hot one today…..humid too! The wind wasn’t bad so if you didn’t mind dealing with the sweat it was a good day to get out on the water….and there was some real good fishing to boot. Labor Day weekend is this coming weekend and things are shaping up for us to have one awesome September. The white marlin bite is shaping up nicely and inshore flounder fishing is terrific at times on the wrecks and reefs. Bay fishing should get get nothing but better as the water cools a little so I am getting jacked for the fall.
Captain Mike Burt of the Pumpin’ Hard had his brother David in the cockpit today and David’s girlfriend, her mother and her son angling and they had an awesome day in the canyon. Captain Mike reported going 8 for 12 on white marlin releases with another fish that window shopped for a bit and a nice mahi for the box.
Captain Chase Eberle of Chasin’ Tides Charters had a couple of successful trips today. This morning it was some cool catch and release shark action in the ocean and this afternoon it was a keeper flounder from the bay.
Bill Wang, Vincent Yu, Simon Qiu, and Zhou Yuong found 3 three keepers to 18 inches and numerous throwbacks while fishing with Captain Brad McCabe of Bay Time Charters. The group also caught sea bass, blues and small flatties that were released.
Kevin Welker was fishing with my buddy Budd Heim over the weekend when he landed this beauty of a 23 3/4″ flounder that weighed 6.1 pounds.
