I got a great report late last night from photographer and regular Fish in OC contributor Nick Denny. Nick joined Captain Monty Hawkins for a day aboard the Morning Star out of The Ocean City Fishing Center and brought back an awesome report.
The very first spot was a good one with drops producing several sea bass in the 13″-15″ range, and a couple of fish of 20″ or better. There were also some bluefish caught, some spiny dogfish and one VERY big flounder.
Morning Star tried another spot or two, but realized that the bite at the first location was worth another shot and returned to do some more damage. At the end of the day there were several sea bass limits around the rail, some large flounder and lots of smiling faces. Ocean City skateboard star Matt Dove and friends finished with several keeper sea bass, and Matt lucked into a beautiful 27″ flounder.
Nick Denny didn’t just take some awesome photos either….according to Captain Monty, he caught one of the largest triggerfish that has ever been landed on the Morning Star.
Here’s mate Wes Pollitt posing with the big trigger.
My buddy Paul Lebling of Spring Mix II and son Ayrton Pryor took a quick trip out this afternoon to celebrate the Redskins comeback victory and did some fishing by the route 90 bridge. Though they didn’t catch any keepers they did have some luck with throwback stripers, flounder and shad on buck tails with white grubs.
