There was some really good white marlin fishing on the sixth and final day of the Mid Atlantic tournament Saturday with several boats catching 15 or more white marlin. Captain Willie Zimmerman on the RoShamBo had 15 releases and the Canyon lady fishing out of Cape May, New Jersey released 20 fish. The great white marlin bite continues this week And hopefully it will last for a few more.
Yesterday, the crew of the private boat Sea Hag with Captain Anthony Pino had 24 white marlin releases.
The Boss Hogg with Captain Alex Beane had 13 white marlin releases and a nice pile of mahi.
Captain Tony Bautista of Saltwater Adventures put this group on a big pile of mahi today.
Russ Lawson fished on board Miss Kathleen out of Bahia Marina today and had a great stringer of keeper sea bass.
angler’s fishing on board Foolish Pleasures with Captain Dale Lisi have been having some good fishing with mahi sea bass and tile fish.
Captain Monty Hawkins of the Morning Star was surprised by a southeast swell this morning, but he didn’t mind after the boat had a limit of sea bass.
Where did that bite come from?!?.. & where in blazes did that swell come from?
Thought it would be near flat calm this morning in light westerlies. But(!) on clearing the inlet we found not only a glorious sunrise, but a fresh swell not of Erin. Some other distant wind had pushed a heave in from the SE.
So, a bit less comfortable than hoped as we ambled on off, yet a fine day lay ahead.

..and the hunt for a fresh sea bass dinner was begun.
Shew.. Man did they chew this morning. I suspect they couldn’t feed – or had great difficulty at least – while Erin worked her way north. Sea bass, to their demise, were far less cautious this day than they had been all summer.
Hungry fish and skilled anglers? We boxed a boat limit of sea bass; the first of 2025.
Sure made some fine fishing.
Believe this — There is no way it will become the norm.
Water temp was back up to 76 off there today too. Will venture further and see if mahi will jump in the boat tomorrow.
