Now that the tournament season is winding down the Fish in OC offshore fleet will get back to charter fishing. There will be plenty of days of white marlin action coming up, and some charters will want to get out and catch a bunch of marlin, but most charters want to put some meat on the dock. The yellowfin tuna fishing was good last season into late October and there were some fish caught as late as early December. Hopefully that will be the case again this season and maybe today was the start of getting back to it.
Tom Jones and his crew from Annapolis, Maryland crushed the Yellowfin Tunas today on the charter boat MARLI with Captain Mark Hoos and mate Mark Stephens. The largest fish today tipped the scale at 68lbs. The action was steady all day.
Captain Joe Drosey of Rhonda’s Osprey was on the trail of billfish today and had good luck with it. Captain Joe put his crew on four white marlin releases.
My buddy David Wells fished with Dan Margott, Tommy Hinkle, Steve Ratcliff and Jeremy Michalski today and had a stellar day with the flounder. The crew caught a limit of flounder and some nice mahi.
Bear at the Oceanic Pier submitted a couple of photos of some nice keeper flounder caught today. Michael and Jim Phelps form Owing’s Mills, MD caught two keepers from the sea north sea wall on minnows and squid. Michael’s fish was 21 1/2″ and Jim’s fish was 22″.
Captain Marc Spagnola from Dusk to Dawn Bowfishing had some good action in the south bay today. Captain Marc put his shooters on some nice atlantic and southern rays.
