We have had some pretty terrible weather over the past several days with rain, wind and really cool temperatures, but Mother Nature was looking out for all of the other mothers out there and she made today beautiful. The wind picked up a bit this afternoon, but overall it was gorgeous.
Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there, you deserve more than just one day to be celebrated for all you do…..we literally wouldn’t be here without you.
Captain Jeff Coats of Pitboss Fishing and his fiancé Karen took advantage of the nice weather conditions today and spent their Mother’s Day together on the water. Pitboss started outside the south jetty where they found dirty water, but still managed to get the bluefish to bite. They boated eight bluefish and lost another 6 fish before making their way to the route 50 bridge. They caught a few school sized rockfish at the route 50, helped a MD Terrapin get a clam unstuck from his foothole and had an all around awesome day.
I received a Facebook submission from David Moore who spent some of his Mother’s Day down on Assateague Island throwing popping plugs in the surf. David landed two really nice rockfish of 37″ and 43″ and also took a shot of a tuna that had washed up. David said the fish was over 4′ long and easily over 100 pounds. By the looks and size of it the fish is most likely a bluefin…..it’s anyone’s guess how it got there.
The wind and rain didn’t stop John Abbott and his buddies from fishing the Virginia surf yesterday. John and crew landed some nice rock and a bonus bluefish on peeler crab baits.
