Beautiful Weather and Great Fishing

Beautiful Weather and Great Fishing

We had a chilly start to the day this morning, but when the sun came up it warmed up nicely and was absolutely gorgeous.  The ocean was flat calm and the fish were snapping for most so it was a great day to be out on the water.

I had the pleasure of heading out on the Reel Current with Captain James Coane and crew today for a new episode of Hooked on OC and we had a great time and caught some fish on top of it.  We bailed over 20 mahi to about 10 or so pounds and we had three swordfish bites catching two.  The first was a 42″ runt that was released and the second was a nice 120 pounder that went in the fish box.  Headed out again tomorrow to enjoy the weather and do some shooting on RoShamBo with Captain Willie Zimmerman and crew.

Captain Chris Mizurak and his crew on the Angler had a very nice day with slick calm conditions and good fishing.  Anglers on the Angler had a bunch of nice sea bass, some bluefish and a few flounder.

Captain Monty Hawkins and the crew of the Morning Star enjoyed flat calm conditions and another boat limit of nice sea bass.

Just a handful of anglers today; most were long time regulars. Cleared the inlet well before dawn and found a wonderfully calm ocean. Charlie & Clinton volunteered for the block drop – 20 more blocks landed in the well of Uncle Murphy’s landing craft at sunrise. (I hope!)
Paddled on off a good bit more before giving the sea bass a try. On our third stop we were into good fish – and there we stayed until we limited the boat.
Clinton used his reef builder’s karma to bag the pool winner.
Sea Bass Bob snagged a small shark with a big attitude. Hooked in a pec fin with a favorite jig, man in a gray suit ripped a lot of line off several times before the boys popped him off on purpose.
Weather still looks great all week. In fact, I’ll open Sunday 10/29/23 with this post.
All Spots Wide open..
Sea Bass are chewing!
Cheers!
Monty
Don Neste came all the way from Hayward, Wisconsin to fish with his son-in-law Steve Hadley and Eric Farrell.  The crew had a limit of sea bass, some triggerfish and some bluefish in some beautiful weather.  Steve even had a bird take a rest on his head.
Big Bird Cropper caught himself a nice 30″ keeper rockfish at the route 50 bridge today and last night Shaun Flaherty caught and released a big 35″ fish.
