We had a little wind to contend with this morning, but it dropped out nicely throughout the day and now flags but a mer flutter around town. The forecast calls for very nice conditions for the next couple of days so I’m really looking forward to my trip aboard the Morning Star tomorrow with my fraternity brothers from Sigma Pi. More on that tomorrow.
The bigeyes decided to chew again today and there were some really, really nice fish caught. Captain Willie Zimmerman and his crew on RoShamBo had an AWESOME day fishing the Jimmy Johnson out of AC, NJ with over 500 pounds of bigeye in three fish. The biggest of the bunch went 202 pounds. Thanks to Dave Messick of Hooked on OC for the pic!
Captain Anthony Matarese, Jr. and his crew on Reel Chaos had a great day in the deep today with two jumbo bigeyes along with a pile of mahi and tilefish.
Captain Andy Butler was running Split Bill Charters today and he found his anglers some meat. It was “nonstop” in the Washington Canyon with a lineup of nice yellowfin tuna.
The crew of the Boss Hogg had a good day today with three nice yellowfin tuna and a big mahi.
Captain Shawn Gibson of Wound Tight had a great day in the deep today putting his guys on three yellowfin tuna and a sailfish release.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters had a crazy good day of floundering in the south bay today putting several keepers in the boat over a couple of trips. Captain Jason also reported “a lot” of throwback sized fish.
Kristen and I saw Corey Brown fishing the bulkhead behind 2nd street today and were glad to see him with this very nice 19″ keeper flounder.
Dan Tobin fished the route 50 bridge today with Roy Rigs and his Deadly Tackle spinning rod and landed some nice snapper sized bluefish.
Captain Kevin Twilley and the boys are back up at Nantucket Shoals this weekend and today they had another epic day of fluke fishing with Captain Gordie. The guys had a limit of fish with “over 200” throwbacks. Kevin was high hook with two 8 pounders.
