It looks like we’re about to get another blow starting tomorrow and this could be a good one for a day or so. Winds tomorrow are supposed to be out of the southwest at 15-20 knots with some gusts to 3o and pick up to 25-30 with some gusts to around 40……with rain. The ocean is going to be closed for business starting tomorrow, and if you’re planning on doing any fishing in the bay, you better try it early. There is some really good fishing going on right now and it will continue after the wind settles so this time of the year we have to take what we can get.
Speaking of good fishing, Captain Monty Hawkins had the Morning Star back to the dock early the other day. Captain Monty sent me a text at 11:30 AM on his way back that read, “smoking hot drop and reel fishing. Limited on sea bass and in early!” Captain Monty had the Morning Star back to the dock by 1 PM with some very happy anglers that all had a limit of sea bass. There were also a few triggerfish, lots of small blues and one lonely flounder. Who knows when the next trip will be with the wind that’s about to start, but whenever it is the fishing should be good.
Last weekend on the same day that the crew of the Primary Search made their history making catch of an opah, there was a pretty good swordfish that was brought back right around the corner. The folks over at the Ocean City Fishing Center posted this photo of Tucker Connett and angler Peter Schultz of the Freak Unleashed with this huge 253 pound daytime caught swordfish. Congratulations on the catch guys!
