I got a really cool story along with a report today from Captain Dave Caffrey of On the Run Charters telling of a lost rod returned to its rightful owner. While fishing today, captain Dave and his crew noticed a rod floating by so they grabbed a hold and brought it into the boat. They quickly realized that a large fish was on the other end so they decided to try and reel it in. Unfortunately, the line was wrapped around the rod tip And the fish broke loose, but they were able to see a 40+ inch striped bass swimming at the other end. Captain Dave assumed that the striper had pulled someone’s rod from the surf on Assateague Island so they put a post up online and shortly after the rightful owner claimed it. A very cool story with a very happy ending!

Captain Dave and his cruise also saw some good fishing with keeper tautog and Flounder for the cleaning table.

Jesse Harman of Bahia Marina rang in his birthday today by catching this 37” striper at the Route 50 bridge on a Roy Rig.
Shaun Flaherty aka “Nature Boy” paddled his kayak over to Assateague Island last night to fish the OC Inlet and he caught and released this 45”+ striper on a Roy Rig.
Captain Jason Mumford of Lucky Break Charters added to his spring flounder total with three nice keeper fish for his anglers.
