Hit the vid for the Daily Catch at Sunset Marina!
Day 1 at the 2024 White Marlin Open was highlighted by some big bigeye tuna that were able to get the crowd going at Harbour Island on what was a beautiful weather day. 199 of the 318 registered boats fished today, but we saw less than 10 hit the scale to weigh fish today. There looked to be some pretty decent marlin fishing by the flags that were flying coming in the inlet, but there were no boated fish brought in. Tomorrow looks to be another good weather day and we expect most, if not all of the 318 boats to be fishing. It should be a busy day at the scales! Here’s who’s leading after the first day of fishing.
Tuna
1st Place – Ctrl-Alt-Del 178.5 Lbs
2nd Place – The Right Place 166.5 Lbs
3rd Place – MJ’s 164.5 Lbs
Away from the tournament the crew of Spring Mix II with Captain Chris Watkowski was out doing some charter fishing and put their anglers on a pile of mahi.
Mike Brockmeyer and Bob Miller had a great day with the flounder catching four keepers in the Thorofare and three keepers in the East Channel on live spot. Bob had a very nice 25″, 5 pound fish.
Will and Reece Schindler had five keeper flounder up to 20″ on live bunker.
